MEA Ratepayers Alliance endorses Burchell, Kincaid, and bylaw change

After a year of controversy, MEA member-owners have an opportunity to change the direction of MEA. Two seats on the board of directors are up for election this year, seats currently held by Peter Burchell and Lee Jordan. Peter Burchell is seeking re-election; he is currently the board Secretary-Treasurer. Janet Kincaid, local businesswoman and former Mat-Su Assemblywoman, is running to replace Lee Jordan.

MEA Ratepayers Alliance encourages all MEA members to vote in-person for Burchell and Kincaid during the 2008 Annual Meeting or by mail. The meeting will be held March 1, 2008 at Colony High School. Look for more information in the annual meeting notice mailed to members 15 to 45 days before the meeting. Information about the 2008 Annual Meeting can be found at the MEA website.

Also on the ballot: a change to the bylaws.

MEA Ratepayers Alliance collected 623 signatures of MEA member-owners to get the bylaw change placed on the ballot. Support was overwhelming, only 300 signatures are required. The change would allow newly elected board members to take their seat at the next board meeting after the election or within 15 days of the election. Currently, newly elected board members must wait until July to take their seat.

Please vote Burchell, Kincaid, and YES on the bylaw change.
